Research Focus

Theresa Walburga Gyorkos received an Honorary Investigator appointment to the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre in 2025. This honorary appointment recognizes her exceptional dedication to advancing global health through the study and control of parasitic diseases. As Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Parasite Epidemiology and Control, Dr. Gyorkos has played a pivotal role in shaping international strategies to combat parasitic infections. Her expertise has been acknowledged through her service on the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Parasitic Diseases, where she has contributed meaningfully to global policy and research initiatives aimed at reducing the burden of parasitic diseases, particularly those caused by soil-transmitted helminths. In addition, her leadership as Directrice, santé mondiale within the Réseau de recherche en santé des populations du Québec (RRSPQ) underscores her commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and the advancement of public health research across Quebec and beyond.
