Research Focus

My research focuses on the development and validation of new approaches that can improve the diagnosis, staging, and monitoring of portal hypertension and vascular liver diseases by conducting high quality clinical trials. Liver diseases are extremely common affecting 1 in 4 Canadian. Once advanced liver disease develops, portal hypertension becomes the main driver of severe complications and death. I am interested in evaluating both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tools. I will also address critical issues rooted in whole-person care, such as malnutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty. These issues are well-known to be common in patients with advanced liver disease and are associated with worse outcomes.
