Source: RI-MUHC. On June 3, the Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) welcomed their members to the 30th Annual Respiratory Research Day.
The Research Day aims to provide a forum for clinical, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to submit their abstracts and present their proposals and results from research experience (clinical, basic, and translational research) through an oral or poster presentation.
The keynote Christie lecture was given by Dr. David Gozal from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, who presented “Exosomes in Sleep Apnea: Personalized Biomarkers or Effectors of Morbidity.” The Christie Lecture is an annual lecture given by researchers who have made outstanding contributions to respiratory medicine.
This year the event featured 54 scientific presentations, amongst which seven awards were given across six presentation categories. The winners for best oral presentation were: Lauren Tracey (M.Sc. student with Dennis Jensen, PhD) and Megan Hammell (M.Sc. student supervised by Anne-Marie Lauzon, PhD). For best poster presentation, the winners were: Jonathon Campbell (clinical fellow with Dr. Kevin Schwartzman), Kim Tran (M.Sc. student with Maziar Divangahi, PhD), Lisa Hennemann (M.Sc. student with Dr. Dao Nguyen), Erwan Pernet (postdoctoral fellow with Maziar Divangahi, PhD) and Vanessa Moarbes (PhD student with Elizabeth Fixman, PhD). Congratulations to all our winners!
