An invitation from Dr. Rhian Touyz
It is my pleasure to present the 2023 Annual Report of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) with the theme “Connected for discovery.”
This year’s report highlights some of the extraordinary advancements and discoveries that are being made at the RI-MUHC as we move toward a new strategic plan that will define the RI‑MUHC over the next decade. We are forging the collaborations across disciplines and institutions that allow us to undertake new large-scale health research projects with widespread impact. At the same time, we are examining and reinforcing our practices in sustainability and in equity, diversity and inclusiveness, and seeking to better nurture our trainees and young scientists, whose achievements well merit their special section in this report.
In the report’s central feature, eight RI-MUHC researchers discuss the transformative power of team science. They represent the many RI-MUHC researchers who are leveraging the strengths and expertise of multiple researchers and practitioners, allowing them to best apply their diverse skills and knowledge to today’s most complex health care challenges.
To the scientists, trainees and staff at the RI-MUHC and to all of our colleagues, supporters and funding partners, thank you for your ongoing commitment to multidisciplinary biomedical research that will improve the health of patients across the lifespan.
