Research Focus
I am a dermatologist and PhD-trained immunologist with expertise in molecular biology, cellular immunology, immunophenotyping of primary human cells and tissues, in vitro human pre-clinical modeling of disease, and skin biospecimen-enabled clinical trials. My clinical work and research are focused on adult atopic dermatitis (AD), the most common and most burdensome skin disorder worldwide, affecting 5-10% of adults in developed countries. My research goal is to identify disease-modifying interventions in chronic AD.
I have established the first Canadian disease-specific human skin and blood immunophenotyping lab, with a research program and immunophenotyping platform for investigating in situ and ex vivo mechanisms of chronic inflammation with adult AD patient skin, swabs, and blood. Patients are recruited from my specialized clinic, the Centre of Excellence for Atopic Dermatitis at the McGill University Health Centre, which is the first tertiary care centre in Canada dedicated to adult AD.
