Research Focus

My research focuses on understanding how the brain encodes information at synapses, the intimate contact points between cells within neural circuits. Work from my research team has provided insight into cellular and molecular pathways that regulate synapses and the contribution of glial cells to brain development and function. The ultimate goal of the research is reveal novel properties of the developing and mature brain and discover potential therapeutic avenues for treating conditions where disregulation of neural circuits occurs.
