Research Focus

My research focuses on understanding cortico-cortical communication and information processing. We investigate multiple topics in fundamental science with a particular emphasis on development of new tools with an eye on clinical applications. Our overall goal is to better understand how information is represented in early stages of processing, how this information is communicated through multiple brain areas and transformed in the process, and how this processing is disrupted in neurological disorders such as traumatic brain injury. We use non-invasive brain imaging using MRI to advance our research, and continuously develop methods to improve MRI of the brain. These advancements are then also applied to studies of clinical value, in particular improving detection and diagnosis of concussions.
