Mariane Bertagnolli received the 2024 Outstanding Woman in Hypertension Research Award, Mid-Career Award category, from the International Society of Hypertension (ISH). Presented during the International Society of Hypertension World Congress in Cartagena, Colombia, in September, this award recognizes her cardiovascular research focused on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and fetal programming. Stephanie Blain-Moraes was named a Member of the Royal Society of Canada College. The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for emerging intellectual leaders. Learn more
Delphine Collin-Vézina was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences by the Royal Society of Canada. This honour recognizes outstanding achievement and impact, including contributions to public life. Learn more
Lorenzo Ferri was appointed President of the International Society of Diseases of the Esophagus in 2024-2025 and President of the International Society for Digestive Surgery from 2024 to 2026.
Julio Flavio Fiore Jr. has won an award for best research presentation at the Australian ERAS+ Conference & 2024 World Congress of Prehabilitation and Perioperative Medicine with the topic: “Psychometric properties of a new patient-reported outcome measure to assess recovery after abdominal surgery: The Recovery After Abdominal Surgery (RAAS) questionnaire.” Learn more on the ANZCA website.
Bertrand Lebouché was appointed a panel member of the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) Guidelines 2025, starting January 2025. EACS panels are responsible for releasing a major annual update of the European Guidelines for treatment of HIV-positive adults in Europe. Learn more about these guidelines on the EACS website.
Emily McDonald gave a keynote lecture at the Royal Academies of Medicine of Belgium in October 2024. Invited by the Queen of Belgium and the Academies of Medicine to speak at the Queen's Second Symposium on Mental Health in Brussels, her topic was “Mental Health and Older Adults: The ABCs of Appropriate Prescribing in Belgium and Canada.” Learn more on the European Geriatric Medicine Society website.
Abhinav Sharma was selected for a 2024 Top Principal Investigator award from the American Heart Association (AHA) in collaboration with the Heart Failure Collaboratory. Recognizing his meritorious achievements in several heart failure clinical trials, this award was presented at the AHA Scientific Sessions in Chicago, Illinois (U.S.), in November. Learn more
