Life-Threatening Illness National Group (LifTING) Research Training Platform to be honoured by the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education
Dr. Patricia Fontela leads a program connecting researchers, patient and family partners

The Life-Threatening Illness National Group (LifTING) Research Training Platform, led by Dr. Patricia Fontela at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), will be honoured by the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education (CAUCE). The LifTING group will receive the Non-credit Programming over 48 hours Award at the CAUCE conference, to be held May 22 –24 in Calgary. This award recognizes excellence in university continuing education programs in Canada and nurtures the concept of the scholarship of practice inherent in the program development process.
The LifTING program, an expansion of the Sepsis Canada Research Training Program also led by Dr. Fontela, aims to improve research on life-threatening diseases by training multidisciplinary researchers, patient and family partners, and community citizens on research methods, knowledge, skills and attitudes related to health services, interprofessional collaboration, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusiveness (EDI).
A scientist in the Child Health and Human Development Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, Dr. Fontela conducts her research at the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation.
