Congratulations to each of the following RI-MUHC investigators:

Dr. Moshe Ben-Shoshan, who received the first F. Estelle R. Simons Award for Research 2017 from the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Dr. Matthias Friedrich, elected President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (, one of the largest international imaging societies. 

Dr. Gabrielle Gobbi, who received the 2017 Dr. Samarthji Lal Award for Mental Health Research from the Graham Boeckh Foundation.

Dr. Phil Gold, among 100 luminaries from around the world selected to contribute their vision to the Canadian Friends of Hebrew University’s Einstein Legacy Project to inspire the next generation of brilliant minds. Recipients of the Einstein Legacy Award contributed to the world’s first entirely 3-D printed book, Genius: 100 Visions for the Future, launched recently at the event, “Celebrating a Century of Genius.”

  • Invitation to address the medical graduating class at Queen’s University (Kingston, Ontario) in spring 2018.

Dr. Larry Lands, 2017 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Pediatric Respirology from the Canadian Thoracic Society.

Dr. Annette Majnemer, who received the 2017 Fellowship Award from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

Dr. Nancy Mayo, the 2017 recipient of the President’s Award from the International Society of Quality of Life.

Dr. Brenda Milner, who received the McGill University Medal for Exceptional Academic Achievement in honour of her groundbreaking career.

Dr. Stefanie Blain Moraes, one of three McGill academics recently named among the planet’s top scientists under the age of 40 by the World Economic Forum. 

Dr. Nitika Pant Pai, named among The Economist’s 2017 HCV Change Makers for her exemplary work towards hepatitic C virus elimination.   

Dr. Bernard Robaire, who received the 2017 Gabriel L. Plaa Award of Distinction from the Canadian Society of Toxicology.

Dr. Donald Sheppard, who received the 2017 Regional Mentor of the Year Award from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This award recognizes his impact on the career development of students, residents and fellows.

Congratulations to five RI-MUHC members recently inducted as fellows of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, one of the highest honours for individuals in the Canadian health sciences community: Congratulations, as well, to two RI-MUHC members inducted in 2017 as fellows of the Royal Society of Canada, Canada’s national academy of distinguished scholars, artists and scientists:
