The Montreal General Hospital Foundation's Impact & Innovation Evening on October 16 brought together philanthropists, researchers, clinicians and community leaders to celebrate the power of giving in driving medical breakthroughs. The evening showcased how donor generosity fuels research and innovation at the Montreal General Hospital (MGH), home to many of the researchers and clinicians of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (The Institute).

At the heart of the event were the 2025 Montreal General Hospital Foundation Research Awards, a commitment of $2.8 million across 121 awards, supporting the work of 78 researchers. Their projects span the spectrum of modern health care, from surgical innovation, cancer care, neurology, mental health, and more.

These awards represent more than funding; they are catalysts for discovery. Previous research award recipients have gone on to lead transformative initiatives with impacts on patients throughout the province and beyond.

"Philanthropy is essential for innovation," said Dr. Rhian Touyz, Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of The Institute. "It accelerates discovery and empowers researchers to turn potential into progress. Thank you to the Foundation and our generous donors for your support, and congratulations to all Research Award recipients."

Congratulations to the 2025 Research Award recipients—researchers whose vision and dedication are shaping the future of healthcare.
