Integral Mentorship for Inclusive Science project
The Integral Mentorship for Inclusive Science (Mentorat intégral pour la science inclusive, MISI) project aims to increase the participation and success of women and Indigenous students in health research training. By providing financial support, mentorship, and training in inclusive leadership and inclusive research, MISI empowers these students to become leaders who drive change and incorporate inclusive research practices. The MISI project recognizes the need to eliminate existing disparities to promote equity in science and health fields.
Based on these needs, the MISI project:
- Offers Targeted Financial Support: Establish awards to support Indigenous and women graduate students in research.
- Delivers Inclusive Research & Leadership Training: Train a cohort of students to develop leadership skills and self-awareness, preparing them to lead teams and to conduct research according to inclusive approaches.
- Enhances Knowledge Mobilization: Strengthen the RI-MUHC members’ capacities to conduct knowledge mobilization activities with Indigenous and women communities and organizations, following ethical, participatory, and inclusive practices. MISI will provide financial support and guidance for ten knowledge mobilization projects.
MISI is funded by the Quebec Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy's NovaScience program, which supports initiatives fostering scientific culture, integration of emerging scientists into the workforce, and a spirit of innovation in organizations.
