This year's keynote speaker is Damijan Miklavcic, Ph.D., Professor at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Title of Presentation: Electroporation: Ablation, Drug, and Gene Delivery Tool

Prof Miklavcic is the world-leading expert in the field of electroporation that is undergoing explosive growth in medtech and interventional sciences. His work led to a better understanding of electroporation on tissue, cell and membrane levels. This has been translated to improved efficacy of selected cancer drugs by electroporation, development of specialized electrodes and devices, and providing numerical modelling for patient treatment planning. He was involved in the development of irreversible electroporation (Pulsed Field Ablation) which has been a game changer in Cardiac Electrophysiology, saving countless lives.

He is developing DNA delivery technologies to cells by electroporation for cell and gene-based therapies.

Prof. Miklavcic is the winner of prestigious domestic and international awards and is a collaborator of numerous international institutes. Since 2003, he has been the Science Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia.
